The Premier Real Estate Site for México

Posted on June 25, 2015 by Rogerio in Cuernavaca, Over 1 million

From the outside, Villa Saltamar presents a curved wall the color of red earth warmed by the sun, and flowering trees on a quiet Cuernavaca street. There are few hints of the beauty of the property, its lush lawns and gardens, tall shade trees and handsome barro sculptures in homage to the Nation’s past. The past is present, and carefully preserved, from magnificent hand-carved entry doors, completed in “1669,” to Santo Tomas floors and Seventeenth Century Cantera columns from the old demoliciòn on Mexico City’s Paseo de la Reforma. One wall of the Living Room is completely given over to an antique French tapestry.

Architect Carlos Obregon Formoso had vision and talent to create for the owners of this light-filled, two-Bedroom, three-bath residence, a surprising design at once pleasing to the eye, restful to the soul, unusual and exceedingly comfortable. It is a marvel.

Architectural details include the softening, or rounding, of sharp angles and the adaptation of Bòveda ceilings, still constructed one brick at a time, in the spacious Master Suite, Dining Room, Kitchen, a stairway Hall, and a Bedroom in the adjacent Guest Casita. The Casita contains two Bedrooms and Baths, a Kitchen, Sitting Room and Living Room with fireplace.

An office offers a wide Garden view, and a painting studio benefits from strong natural light. A mosaic tile swimming pool is a jewel in the emerald-green lawn. Large cisterns and a wine Cava are unseen but present. Four staff rooms include an apartment and kitchen. Construction of 1,800 square meters occupies a 3,800 square meter terreno.
